Climate Strides — Breaking the Panel

Climate conversations that move — literally.

Climate Strides is a mobile, outdoor event format that reimagines the panel by taking it outside and on the move — activating climate advocacy and action through a shared love of nature.

“So simple but so powerful.” — participant

What it is

Climate Strides turns a familiar run or walk into a shared learning experience. Participants gather for a short loop and hear directly from scientists, athletes, artists, and community advocates who share insights tied to a climate-action theme. No stage, no rows of chairs — just movement, story, and connection in a public green space.

The result is an accessible, repeatable format that lowers barriers to entry and builds community momentum.

How it works

Gather

Meet at a designated trail, park loop, or waterfront path. The route is short (1.5–3 miles) and conversational-pace to ensure inclusivity.

Move

Walkers and runners move together while invited speakers share lived experience and practical on-ramps to climate action.

Activate

Each event closes with tangible actions: local organization sign-ups, volunteer days, and continued community connections.

Why it works

  • Breaks the panel: removes the stage-audience divide; everyone is part of the conversation.
  • Nature as catalyst: a shared love of the outdoors makes climate engagement feel personal and inviting.
  • Lower friction: free, open-air, familiar routes make it easy to drop in and return.
  • Mind-body effect: time outside boosts creativity, reduces stress, and supports clearer thinking.
  • Local action: each stride ends with concrete ways to stay involved.
